RFID Journal's RFID FAQ -- An excellent overall introduction to the most
basic issues concerning RFID, including what it is, how it works,
how it differs from barcodes, etc. It is a good place to start
if you know nothing about RFID.
Texas Instruments RFID FAQ -- Also has some basic information
on RFID, but this FAQ is more geared to TI's products, in particular
their RFID tags.
Genesis Engineering's RFID FAQ -- An acceptable, very short introduction
to basic RFID principles. Distinguishes itself from other basic
FAQ's by adding a short section on the Electronic Product Code,
or EPC.
Roy Want's RFID Primer -- This is a more in-depth and technical
RFID primer written by Roy Want of Intel Research. You will find
it useful if you need more detailed information than the other
primers provide.
Wikipedia's RFID Entry -- An unusually comprehensive article, with an emphasis
on privacy issues. Nevertheless a useful primer. Includes some
history, a taxonomy of tag types, potential uses, regulation,
etc. (Note: Since Wikipedia is an open system, this article may
have been replaced with something else by the time you read it.)
Baseline Magazine's EPC primer -- Originally published in 2002,
this article is definitely a little old, and it is very basic
in scope. However, if you're new to EPC, this is a quck read
and a decent introduction. There is nothing in this piece about
Gen 2, due to its age.
Information Week's Primer
on RFID Technology and Processes -- Actually part 3 of a multi-part article, this
piece gives a good overview of the importance of EPC for the
widespread adoption of RFID in the retail supply chain. Published
in 2004.
EPC's Ultra-Simple Video RFID Primer -- For broadband connections only.
This is a very basic introduction to the way EPC and RFID can
be used to manage the retail supply chain. (This file can be
notoriously slow-loading, depending on your computer setup.)
